Back to work

It was back to work in the grooming shop on Friday after taking a couple of days to myself. I enjoyed the trip to the Tellington TTouch Training, and I especially enjoyed giving a talk to the students about how beneficial TTouch can be to dog groomers, but I am so glad to be home. On the way home from the trip I stopped off in Fredericton to do a Tellington TTouch consultation with a sweet little Chinese Crested. The session went very well & the owner was very pleased with the calming effect that TTouch had on her dog. I hope that the owner will continue to work using TTouch to help the dog to regain her confidence.

Tellington TTouch is a gentle positive way of working with animals. Using circular ttouches, lifts & slides, combined with on-leash exercises, the Tellington method helps to bring pet sinto balance so that they can relax & be the best he or she that they can be. In my grooming shop I use my skills as a TTouch practitioner to help my clients to relax & enjoy their grooming experience.

Today's Handsome Dude

Some pics of today's grooming dog. As he looked when he came in, in the bath tub, being dried, having a nap while waiting to go home, & in the yard with his mom just before getting into the car.

In The Tub

Here is a picture of a Cocker Spaniel in the process of being bathed. As you can see the dog is secured in the tub by the use of a grooming noose. This prevents the dog from jumping out of the tub & doing itself an injury. At the shop I always use high quality shampoos & keep a variety on hand. My medicated shampoo & a hypo-allergenic shampoo are veterinary grade, purchased from my veterianrian..

Another day at the shop.

Todays wonderful grooming dog.Top photo is the finished product, middle photo is showing him all shaggy as he was when he walked in through the door, & the bottom photo shows him  on the table with the dryer being brushed dry. A grooming appointment should be a pleasant experience for a dog.

rainy day

No grooming today, yesterday I groomed the biggest Border Collie that I have  ever seen the dog was not fat, just a very large dog for a Border Collie. Today I have errands to run & things to do. Tomorrow , Thursday & Friday I have grooming dogs booked. The shop has been open for 5 weeks now, and I am very pleased at the response from the local area. Getting lots of favourable feedback too!

Thursday

Back from a couple of days off. I had a wonderful cat in for grooming this morning. It has been a while since I have been able to work on cats. The shop at the boarding kennel was too close to the noise of the boarding dogs for cats to be able to relax & feel comfortable, so I stopped working on cats. The new shop is an ideal place to be able to groom a cat in a peaceful calm quiet setting. I really enjoyed working on Maya the white long haired kitty this morning.

Victoria Day

Happy Victoria Day to Everyone! Today is a holiday here, so no grooming today. Another grey cool day here. I really wish that the weather would clear up & warm up. It would be nice to get the veggie garden planted. We are behind schedule this year compared to last. Here are a few more pictures from the shop, a couple of before & afters, & a pic of two brothers waiting to go home.

Home

Home is in West Hants NS, just outside of the town of Windsor. My shop is inside my house, the house is 150 years old, and the original farmhouse of  what used to be a large working farm. There is no place in the world that I would rather be. Every day here is filled with amazing sights & sounds. There is a wonderful feeling of tranquility here. My grooming shop has two windows that let in an amazing amount of natural light, . While I am working in my shop I am constantly treated to the beautiful views from those windows. It is pure pleasure to be able to work in such a fantastic space. The photo above is the view from the front step & is the same view that I see from my shop window.
